Coinbase adds Pearl to its listing roadmap, as PEARL. On Coinbase, “PRL” is another coin

A roadmap entry isn’t a listing. The lasting lesson is the ticker: on exchanges, native Pearl is PEARL, and PRL usually means something else.

What happened

On October 19, 2026, at 19:40 UTC, Coinbase’s asset-listing account posted (opens in a new tab): “Assets added to the roadmap today: Axis Labs (AXIS), Pearl (PEARL), and Stable (STABLE)”. The post gave no trading date and didn’t say whether Coinbase would support deposits and withdrawals on the Pearl network.

Two tickers, two different coins

Pearl Research Labs and this site call the coin PRL. Market sites mostly don’t: CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap and now Coinbase list native Pearl as PEARL. Meanwhile, Coinbase’s existing PRL market is Perle (opens in a new tab), a token on Solana, and so are the PRL markets on Upbit, KuCoin, Gate and MEXC.

Futures came first

Derivatives venues moved before any big spot exchange. On October 9, Aster opened a PEARLUSDT perpetual futures market; its older PRLUSDT market, from March, is Perle. A perpetual future is a contract on the price: you can’t withdraw a coin from it.

What it means for you

  • Wallet users and holders: nothing changes. Native PRL stays in your Pearl wallet.
  • Buyers: if Coinbase lists Pearl, check the asset name, the PEARL ticker and the withdrawal network before you buy, then withdraw a small test amount.
  • Miners and node operators: nothing changes.

What isn’t established

  • Whether and when Coinbase will open trading.
  • Whether Coinbase would support native deposits and withdrawals on the Pearl network, or trading only.
  • Anything about the network itself. A listing changes where PRL can be bought, not what Pearl does.
