Pearl, PRL or PEARL? Which “Pearl” coin is which

Pearl’s coin is called PRL, but price sites and exchanges list it as PEARL, and at least six other projects use one name or the other. One test cuts through all of it: native Pearl lives on the Pearl network, at addresses starting with prl1, and has no token contract anywhere.

01 The names, at a glance

Where you see it What it is Pearl?
PRL in Pearl’s wallet, code and website The native coin of the Pearl network Yes
PEARL on CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap and Coinbase’s roadmap The same coin, under the ticker market sites use Yes, if the network is Pearl
PRL on Coinbase, Upbit, KuCoin, Gate and MEXC Perle, a token on Solana No
Oyster Pearl (PRL) An Ethereum token sold in 2017 No
Pearl (PEARL) on Tron Pearl Finance, a separate token No
Olas Pearl An app store for AI agents No, and not a coin
WPRL A wrapped token from a third-party bridge No: it tracks PRL but isn’t native

02 Why Pearl has two tickers

Pearl’s own software and website use PRL. That ticker was already in use elsewhere, and market sites list the coin differently: CoinGecko (opens in a new tab) as “Pearl” with the symbol PEARL, and CoinMarketCap (opens in a new tab) as “Pearl (pearlresearch.ai)”. On October 19, 2026, Coinbase also used PEARL when it added Pearl to its listing roadmap.

03 Perle is not Pearl

Perle is a separate project with its own token on Solana, and its ticker is PRL. On Coinbase (opens in a new tab), Upbit, KuCoin, Gate and MEXC, the market called PRL is Perle. Someone who reads “Pearl (PRL)” and searches an exchange for PRL can end up holding the wrong coin.

The same goes for derivatives: on Aster, PEARLUSDT is a futures market on Pearl, while the older PRLUSDT is Perle. A futures market is a contract on the price either way, never a coin you can withdraw.

04 Oyster Pearl, the 2017 token

Oyster Pearl was an Ethereum token sold in 2017 by a project called Oyster Protocol, also under the ticker PRL. In 2020 the US Securities and Exchange Commission charged its founder (opens in a new tab) over the sale. It has nothing to do with Pearl, but old price and exchange pages for it still turn up in searches for “PRL”.

Pearl’s wallet daemon is also called Oyster. That’s a coincidence: it’s Pearl Research Labs’ own software, unrelated to the 2017 token.

05 Olas Pearl is an app, not a coin

Pearl from Olas (opens in a new tab) is a desktop app store for AI agents, launched in 2025. Because both projects mix AI and crypto, searches for “Pearl AI crypto” blur them together. Olas Pearl isn’t a blockchain and has no connection to Pearl Research Labs.

06 The one test that always works

  • The coin moves on the Pearl network, not on Ethereum, Solana, Tron or any other chain.
  • Deposits and withdrawals use addresses starting with prl1.
  • There is no contract address. If a “Pearl” or “PRL” has one, it isn’t native PRL.
  • A small test withdrawal arrives in a Pearl wallet you control.

07 Questions people ask

Is PEARL the same coin as PRL?
Yes, when the network is Pearl. PRL is the name Pearl’s software uses; PEARL is the ticker CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap and Coinbase’s roadmap use for the same coin.
Is Pearl the same as Perle?
No. Perle is a separate token on Solana that also uses the ticker PRL, and it’s what “PRL” means on most big exchanges.
Is Pearl related to Oyster Pearl?
No. Oyster Pearl was a 2017 Ethereum token. Pearl is its own blockchain, live since April 2026.

1 questions · about 1 minute · nothing is sent anywhere

  1. Question 1 of 1 An exchange lists “PRL”, with deposits on Solana. Is it native Pearl?
    Show answer

No: native Pearl only moves on the Pearl network. On most big exchanges, PRL on Solana is Perle. Native Pearl uses the Pearl network and prl1 addresses, whatever the ticker.
